My Breitling Old Navitimer I, model reference 81610 (also referred to as the A13019), dates to approximately 1990 by serial number. This beauty's 41.5mm (bezel diameter, the case diameter is closer to 40mm), and has a relatively compact lug-to-lug length of 48mm . Hi. I have a problem setting the time on my B50. First i set the utc time correctly and then I advance to setting the main time zone. But when I set it to UTC +2 which is correct where I live the time shows 30min more than what it should. Example if its 12:00 UTC I set my main time to UTC +2 it shows 14:30 as the time.
In the B50/55 UTC is the baseline time and must be set first. Start with setting UTC first, I actually went to a website and found a clock tied to UTC with seconds, you set the watch and synchronize (in settings) the hands based on that. Then when you set your local and secondary time, they will all tie together. The top display will show "R" and the bottom display shows the time, (an hour behind the time the hands show) allowing the time to be set using the usual controls. At this point, press the top button and the word "BAT" flashes up in the top window. HOLD the top button. The word "BAT" stays on the screen for a while and then BOTH screens go . Correct size screwdriver. Perfect size is a 1.8mm (Bergeon 180), but as Bergeon don't seem to sell them individually anymore the Bergeon 160 (1.6mm) works fine. Driver8 helpfully pointed me in the direction of a guy in Germany that sells the 1.8mm Bergeons.
The old Chronospace had a different movement (the new one introduced in 2010 uses the same one, or at least the SQ version) so not necessarily the same. You need to spin the crown until the digital display is blank and then pull the crown and adjust the hands to the time that the digital display showed before you blanked it.
The movement in the watch could be an ETA - not a proprietary Breitling movement. Breitling refused to repair/replace an older Miyota Y652 quartz movement on an Intruder (1998 - 1999 vintage). Check out the availability of new or used ETAs as required if your (prospective) watch should need one. I have a 1994 era Aerospace with the gold bezel bits.
