I had the same problem with the service centre in Munich with my 233 last year. It was sent back to Panerai Munich. Luckily it was only a minor problem and was repaired very quickly and free .

My 233 is my favorite PAM reference, but while setting the date this past March the movement actually failed on me (the whole thing locked up) necessitating a full service. Panerai did the full service, a light polish and replaced the main plate and handset at a cost of about 00 and it took a bit over two months. Panerai 233 stopped working. I have a 2010 233 am/pm dial which I bought pre owned in 2015. Not sure if it has been serviced before I bought it. The watch was working fine but when I wore it the other day the date change between date number 8 and 9 there was an issue with the hour hand getting stuck and does not move.

The dome crystal on the 233 has vintage vibes, and makes the dial+watch look and wear slightly smaller overall. 100m water resistance is enough, as I don't swim or deep dive with my Panerai anyway.
