From a watch nerd perspective, Panerai's utter lack of transparency, QC issues, and quality-cost ratio. Most recently, their newer P.9010 has been neutered with no hacking or handwinding, .Panerai has had a lot of issues with reposting fakes on their Instagram, poor reference number system, being sleezy and dishonest with their movements, and a blatant disrespect for their . May 14, 2023. I've been drooling over various Panerais for years now. They have been out of the range of affordability for so long that I've stopped checking. Recently, I checked a grey seller's inventory and was pleasantly surprised by the pre-owned prices coming down significantly.

In reality, they're overpriced watches with average movements. For the record, I can't stand Rolex and don't own one, and ironically Panerai subscribes to the same short production run, high price strategy. Actually, considering Rolex has better movements and better quality, and better sell on value, Panerai's prices are way more offensive. TZUK is the only forum I frequent. Many moons ago, I did the usual Panerai thing - went through lots of references and even more straps. Paneristi was a massive forum with loads of information, whether that be about the watches themselves or strapmakers. In all honesty, I found it a little too big :distracted:.
It’s a handmade luxury watch made out of expensive materials. Imagine pretty much every single part being made by a master. That’s what you paid for with watches. Panerai hold value fairly well, but you certainly can find some 20 to 30% off if you look around.
