The SD43 has been my daily for about 5 years. Only since last year have I been able to compare directly to some others (Exp2 42mm, GMT, 44mm Omega 300M chronograph) - GMT is lighter and more comfortable - That Omega is rather 'stiff' and the bracelet edges can be felt - SD43 is certainly comfortable for a large watch and has 'presence' The discontinued SD43 2017 Mk1 dial was discontinued after one year in 2018, and still 3 years after that they were sold with current cards. That's correct. This was the display at Basel World 2017. In today's luxury context where Rolex ties back the professional range to its heritage, the SD43 has been pretty controversial. Among watch enthusiasts, some purist claim it's too much of a departure from the traditional Sea-Dweller line (due to cyclops and size). The BLNR is still a 40mm GMT with the same bezel and case (slightly slimmer lugs on the 126710) and a different bracelet and movement. It seems like people are saying the 116710 is discontinued to hype up their watch and raise the prices on the secondary market.
