I am considering to acquire a Rolex Explorer 1, but after watching tons of reviews on the 214270 (39mm) version and the new 124270 with 36mm I am more confused than ever. I tell them take a full body shot from a few feet away and be amazed how well a 36 or even 34 mm looks on your 7 and change wrist. Close ups are useless. The explorer looks great on you btw I can see a diver or pilot watch covering that much of a wrist but consider my 7.25 or so wrist size to be the minimum where the 39 makes better sense. It seems to me that the design language of the Explorer is more restrained size field/adventure watch, especially with it's long history at 36mm.
